Sauvignon have resulted in a wine of exceptional complexity. Aromas of roasted herbs, spice box, sweet and sour cherries, licorice, incense, and black fruits are followed by a wine with tremendous opulence, full body, and moderately high but sweet tannin. Excellent acidity gives precision to this big, but impeccably well-balanced, pure 2005. –RP” Wine Advocate: 92-94 pts Wine Spectator: 95 pts

2005 ![]() Château Pavie Macquin Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion “Their 2005 may be the finest wine they have yet produced. This blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon is fermented in open top tanks with pigeage, malolactic in barrel, aging on its lees, and batonnage. It achieved 14.5% natural alcohol, which must be an all-time record at this estate. A fascinating wine that reminded me of a top vintage of Ausone, it represents the essence of its terroir as well as richness. –RP” Wine Advocate: 96-100 pts Wine Spectator: 96 pts
